Тарас Прохасько

Taras Prokhasko was born in 1968 in East Gallician Ivano-Frankivsk in the Ukraine. After studying biology in Lviv he returned to his home town in 1992 where he became a member of the literary circle around the newspaper "Chetverg" (Thursday), and in which his first prose and poetry were published. Prokhasko has since published several books which have been translated into Polish, Russian, Serbian, Czech and English. He has been a guest of the Villa Deciusz in Krakow, the Donaumenta Festival in Regensburg and the Kleist Festival for Short Prose in Frankfurt/Oder. He was also the recipient of a scholarship from the Literary Colloquium Berlin. Prochasko works as author and journalist for the weekly newspaper “Halyc’kyj korespondent”. He is a member of the Association of Ukrainian Writers. Taras Prokhasko lives in Ivano-Frankivsk, formerly known as Stanislau.
