Дмитрий Иванов
Dmitry Ivanov was born in Klichka, a village in Siberia, in 1967. He studied in St. Petersburg where he graduated as both a mechanical engineer (1990) and as a sociologist and economist (1995). His doctoral thesis was on the "Evolution of Critical Social Theory" and he was promoted to professor following his work on "New Theories on Social Change". He has been Professor for Theory and History of Sociology at the St. Petersburg State University since 2004.
Ivanov is a member of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and has been a regular participant at international sociology congresses since 1998.
Already the author of several text books, it was his book "The Virtualisation of Society" (2000), revised in 2002 ("The Virtualisation of Society 2.0"), which made him known to a wider public and which has remained a topic for discussion (e.g. in the Russian Top Manager Magazine 2006). Dmitry Ivanov lives in St. Petersburg.
