Лера Авербах
Lera Auerbach was born 1973 in Chelyabinsk. She gave her first public performance when she was only six. At eight she made her first appearance as a soloist with orchestra and at twelve composed an opera. Lera Auerbach's compositions have been commissioned and performed by a wide array of artists, orchestras and ballet companies including Gidon Kremer, the Kremerata Baltica, Petersen String Quartets, the SWR and NDR Symphony Orchestras, the Royal Danish Ballet.
In 1996, she was named Poet of the Year by the International Pushkin Society and was awarded the Poetry Prize of Novoye Russkoye Slovo, the largest Russian-language newspaper in the West. Her literary works include five volumes of poetry and prose, two novels and more than one hundred contributions to Russian-language newspapers and magazines. In 2007, she was nominated " Young Global Leader " by the World Economic Forum. Lera Auerbach is married and lives in New York.
